Scorer Level 1 (Club Scorer)

For individuals wishing to take the first step on the qualification ladder and learning how to score in detail, we run the Club Scorer (Level 1) course. It is not necessary to have attended an Introduction to Scoring Course to take Level 1.

Level 1 deals with the fundamentals of scoring, covering the ten key areas of the scoresheet as well as the Laws that pertain to scoring. The course is suitable for anyone, at any age, and assumes no prior experience. The fee covers copies of all the presentations shown, includes an edition of "Tom Smith's Cricket Umpiring and Scoring" (the textbook for all cricket officials) and other equipment of use in 'running the book'.

Level 1 Scorer students also gain automatic membership of West Surrey Association of Cricket Umpires & Scorers.

At the completion of the classroom course, students will be ready for their first full season in the scorebox. After a few games' experience, there is the opportunity to be assessed at a cricket match, and those passing become accredited ECB Level 1 Scorers. The assessment is optional; students who would like to attend the classroom course only, for training or revision, are equally welcome.

Applications for next available course, in March-April 2018, are now invited.
